Got this book when the price was low. The story is odd, not very entertaining for my 4 year old when I read it to him.
Gave this as a gift to new parents, they thought it was funny.

Great book - one of the best...really hilarious!
The Battle of the Vegetables is made up of 3 short stories, all tied together at the end. The book starts off with the cast of characters: Leeks, Carrots, and Mixed Vegetables, and the scene is set (a garden of course). The illustrations are cartoon-like and accompany the dramatic, often toungue-in-cheek text.The first time I read through this book, all I could think was "this is a little weird". And yes, the story is a bit odd- the humor reminded me a bit of "Monty Python". But, much like Monty Python, after 3 or 4 reads, the story seems to get funnier and funnier. I love that it was originally written in French- all I could think of was the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail with the Frenchmen at the castle saying "Fetchez la vache!"Aaanyway, a quick summary is that the cow outsmarts the leeks by pretending to be one of Santa's reindeer, the carrots are outsmarted by some bats who appear to team up with a group of rabbits, a leek and a carrot have a brief Shakespearean forbidden love story, but in the end, there is a giant food fight and some vegetable soup.Recommended for those looking for a unique story with some punny humor. I would LOVE to read this in French.
Funny and entertaining. My 10 yr old wishes there were more books in English by the same author.
My kids (4 & 6) say "this is the funniest book in the world". Cute graphics.
