I recently toured Scotland, and in order to keep my luggage light, the only things I purchased were postcards. When I returned, I ordered several books about the sites I toured. I plan to include them with a scrapbook I made for my granddaughters, so someday when I am gone, they can read about Grandma Robbie's trip to Scotland. This book is beautifully done, and includes a lot of information about the historic significance of Edinburgh Castle, which is amazing. Our tour was only 2 hours and because it was raining (hard!), we had to cut our tour short. So this book allowed me to "visit" the parts I missed that day.
My great-great grand auntie grew up in the shadow of the castle, and we plan a trip this year. I wanted to be sure I didn't miss anything, so I thought we'd get this book now.
A very nice guide about the Edinburgh Castle. It offers beautiful pictures along with nicely written text which explains the history of the Castle or other items.
Came in excellent condition even though I bought it for good condition. A great buy.

I recently returned from a trip to Edinburgh Castle, and purchased the official guidebook before I traveled there, and found it to be a great preparation resource.I highly recommend getting a copy of this guide book before you travel to the Castle, as it will allow you to appreciate the interior of the building and the layout of the whole Castle better.Like many official guides, there are appropriate photographs of major sections, a history of the castle.The real, sole weakness is an explanation of the modern castle, and the lack of depth of information about the palace complex in the castle. The Scottish military museum section could be expanded as well, in future editions, as that part of the castle fulfilled its major function after the union of the crowns.
