Yes, it is simply the Army FM that you can download in PDF format for FREE and then print or read on a tablet/phone. I give it 5 stars because I like to have things in print. To download and print this would cost nearly the same amount. If you would then like to have your giant stack of paper too thick to staple together bound in some sort of book then it will end up costing more than this did.
This is a good book for explaining the use of a compass. However, it may not be the book you're looking for if you are wanting to learn orienteering on a UGSG Quad Map.I do recommend the book for map and compass enthusiasts.
Fatal flaw: Text uses real maps in conjuction with problems. The math is simple but w/o the map referent the text is pointless. It is well written but, for me at least, useless as a learning tool so I returned it. I DON'T Recommend.
Very well done but you can down load for free. I learned that after the purchase. Having the hard copy is still worth the cost.
Packed with a lot of map reading know how with a military slant. More than what I needed but a nice military publication to have and you can learn what they learn. Good to have for reference and to refresh certain parts as needed.
Great memories with this Army Field Manual, will still get you out of a heap of trouble , back home safe ! Excellent information base ! Easy read, clear study, excellent demonstration maps, pictures, charts !!
Went through the course - similar - when in USMC; this is a great read.
Good quality version of the FM, useful to keep in my bookshelf, when I don't want to pull out my laptop and read the PDF
