Juliet Harbutt, author of The World Cheese Book, is the world's most highly respected cheese expert. Born in New Zealand, she moved to Britain in 1984 and founded Jeroboams wine and cheese shop, reputably one of Britain's finest, offering more than 250 French and British artisan cheeses. She also designed and ran seminars for retailers, wholesalers, and many Relais & Châteaux Hotels throughout Britain. Her expertise was recognized by the French, who made her a member of the Guilde Internationale des Fromagers, Confrérie de Saint-Uguzon. In July 1991, she sold her interest in Jeroboams to concentrate on writing, consultancy, and lecturing.

It is a brilliant book, probably the best one can find on the subject. We became interested in cheese varieties after a cheese tasting in France and got a book to understand more how cheese is made and how to combine it with wine and food. This book has answers for all our questions! It is pleasant to look at, very structured, not scientific yet very informative, with wonderful pictures. Now I started trying different varieties of world cheeses from the shop and check them against the book to understand the difference between them and appreciate them even more!
Very nice construction. Excellent graphics. Great information. Perfectly sized. This was purchased for my 16 old cheese loving son, who read it with great zeal. I came home one day to find our 20 something year old friend into it. Any book that can get young adults off the gaming and get their brains engaged in other stuff is a win-win for me!
